Venture away from the crowded bike lanes and jump aboard Surly's Midnight Special for grand adventure on a plethora of forgotten back roads. The Midnight Special smooths chunky tarmac and bumpy dirt with its vibration-damping Chromoly steel frame and plump 650b x 47 WTB Horizon tires, allowing you to chase skyline beyond the city in total comfort. TRP Spyre mechanical disc brakes are steadfast no matter the conditions, and SRAM's Rival 22 drivetrain has ample gearing for climbing mountain passes and gliding along expansive landscapes alike. Surly provides a few welcome touches of convenience to complement every ride, including three bottle mounts on the frame, front and rear rack provisions, and full fender mounts to keep you hydrated, well-prepared, and feeling sharp, even in the rain. The Midnight Special's touch points are appointed with Salsa's comfortable Cowbell bar and a WTB Volt Sport saddle, and thanks to modern, evolution-accommodating details like convertible dropouts, a 44mm headtube, and flat-mount brakes, you can count on the Midnight Special to be your partner in exploration through many years of service.
So what is this Straggler anyway? The easy answer is to say that Surly added disc brakes to a Cross-Check and this is close to accurate. People have asked them to make a disc version of their highly versatile Cross-Check for a long time now and almost everything about the two are very similar. Straggler is slightly different, though. The most obvious difference of course is that the Straggler has disc caliper mounts instead of rim brake studs. It'll accept rotors up to 160mm. The rear dropouts are unique, too. They're a partially closed horizontal design that accommodates singlespeed or geared drivetrains. They feature stop screws that thread in from the rear to further secure the wheel and to position the rear wheel for optimal shifting, plus a forward-mounted stop screw on the drive side to keep the wheel from slipping forward under the force of your gargantuan legs. The rear dropouts are spaced 135mm instead of 132.5mm like the Cross-Check simply because there are far more options for disc hubs in this spacing.Straggler shares all of the Cross-Check's braze-ons for fenders, racks and bottle cages. The Straggler's geometry is slightly different, with angles and tube lengths very close but not identical to the Cross-Check, but like the Cross-Check it's ready to take you just about anywhere. It's a day tripper and a weekender. It's a 'rough road' road bike. It's a cyclocross bike with no pretense about racing. It's a utilitarian townie. It's a light-duty touring bike. It's an all-weather commuter. And when you get tired of one set up, you can swap parts around and turn it into something else. We think that's pretty neat.- Fender eyelets at the dropouts, front and rear rack bosses and dual water bottle mounts, downtube shifter mounts- 100% Surly proprietary 4130 chromoly tubing. TIG-welded, double-butted main triangle- Forward-exiting horizontal dropouts with adjusters give you singlespeed compatibility and wheelbase adjustability to help you fit the tires and fenders you want to run with that drivetrain you want to run.- Frame is ED Coated for increased life expectancy

Off-road touring can be a zesty enterprise, but it’s not without its perils. Bicycles are simple machines that are extremely efficient, but all simple machines carry along with them the chance of breaking down. This efficiency can get you in trouble if your bike decides to break down far away from the comforts of your parent’s basement. If you’re going to ride your bicycles where no one can see, you better take gear that’s up to the task. Troll is up to the task. Surly's Troll was once a simple mountain bike frame with a few extras that made it nice for touring. The Troll has evolved into a frame that has been pushed deeper into the category of off-road touring. Its geometry is no longer suspension corrected, which gives it more room for a larger frame bag. The Troll is a bike that has one purpose – and that purpose is to carry you as far away from society as possible.

The ECR is Surly's answer to those times when you just need to escape to the woods for a while to get away from the humdrum of life. Those familiar with this steel mule know it’s designed around plus tires, previously of the 29” variety. A fully loaded 29+ bike is an excellent way to explore and get away for a while… if you’re of a certain stature that is. For smaller riders, it poses several challenges though. And no one wants new problems when they’re in the woods trying to escape old ones. To solve this, Surly redesigned the smaller sizes of the ECR to work with 27.5+ while the larger sizes are still equipped with 29+. All you medium specimens out there get your pick of the litter as Surly is offering that size in both options.Other updates to the ECR include and are limited to: Gnot-Boost rear spacing and a killer new beige paint job. It retains the abundant accessory mounts that we all know and love like Surly Trip Guide for brakes and derailleurs, fender, rack, and Bill/Ted eyelets, and a Rohloff torque arm slot. The 29+ sizes have two water bottle mounts and one set of Three-Pack bosses. You’ve got lots of options to bring all your “necessities” with you and still have room for excess baggage if you’ve got it.
When your bike touring route takes you over the river and through the woods with a quick jaunt through town for supplies, you can't beat the versatility and smooth riding characteristics of Surly's new Bridge Club. First off, it's a Surly so you know the 'Natch chromoly steel frame and fork are built to handle your entire kit and caboodle, and thanks to the typical overabundance of rack and cage provisions you can mount your gear via traditional racks and panniers, go full bikepacking-style, or mix-up your favorite combo of the two. The Bridge Club rolls on plump 27.5 x 2.4-inch WTB Riddler tires for a blend of low rolling resistance on smooth pavement and confident handling on forest trails. You can also run up to a 2.8-inch wide tire for more flotation, or swap-in a 700c wheel and tire combo if your route includes a lot of on-road riding. A dependable 2x10 drivetrain ensures you'll never run out of gears as you make the push up long climbs, and mechanical disc brakes offer worry-free performance to keep you safe no matter what the weather brings. And, thanks to fully housed cabling and front and rear fender mounts, you can splash through soggy days with a smile. A comfortable Salsa Bend flat bar and WTB Volt saddle complete this relaxed all-terrain tourer.

Its tough chromoly frame and fork ride smooth like butter and deftly maneuver the pothole-strewn pavement of the urban jungle. 650b what? In the old days when randonneuring bikes ruled on long rides over mixed surfaces, the 650b tire size was perfectly suited for moving fast under control. Surly took this concept and applied it to the Straggler, a disc brake-equipped any-road type of bike bred from their revered Cross Check. The slightly smaller wheels accommodate smaller frame sizes and plump tire widths, creating options where few exist in this realm of bike riding. Disc brakes highlight the Straggler 650b story, sporting Hayes CX Experts with 160mm rotors front and rear. The athletic character continues with a SRAM Apex 2x10 drivetrain, giving you a useful gear range for any type of riding you can dream up, and continues with 32-hole alloy Alex Adventurer 2 rims wrapped in Surly's own super-versatile 650b x 41 Knard rubber. A Salsa Cowbell handlebar is great for riding on mixed terrain, too, giving you a bit more control when it's loose while retaining comfortable positioning for cranking into the wind. Make it your gravel explorer on weekends, your trusty commuter during the week, and go collect all the hand-ups when cyclocross season rolls around. This Straggler's lookin' for a good time and you seem like the type to oblige.
To brake or to disc brake? The debate isn't getting any colder and Surly decided it's best to let you choose. Straggler is bred from Surly's revered rim-brake Cross-Check and comes out a lot the same, but also a little different. Frame geometry is pretty close, and you get all the attachment provisions for racks, fenders, and bottle cages that make these bikes something more utilitarian than a standard 'cross racer. Disc brakes are the obvious change though, and the Straggler sports Hayes CX Experts with 160mm rotors front and rear. The athletic character continues with a SRAM Apex 2x10 drivetrain, giving you a useful gear range for any type of riding you can dream up, and continues with 32-hole alloy Alex XD-E Lite rims wrapped in Surly's own super-versatile 700c x 41 Knard rubber.
